TransFurans Chemicals is the leading manufacturer of furfuryl alcohol (FA). TFC runs the world’s largest full continuous plant of 32.500 metric tons and is the sole European producer. At the Belgian plant 40 people are employed for production, maintenance, logistics, engineering and business development. Furfural (FF) is the sole bio-based source for FA production via catalytic hydrogenation. FF is produced from hemicellulosic agricultural wastes. FA, the most important derivative of FF, plays a vital role in the production of foundry sand binders. This reactive chemical has determined the succes of this biomass-based chemical industry.
TFC research and business development focuses on the development of novel FA based resins/polymers called BioRez™. BioRez™, liquid resin, developed and marketed by TFC is a novel thermoset system based on biomass. TFC is a pioneer in the field of foundry resins and an innovator in the development of new furan resins for binding glass, natural or wood fibres for a wide variety of applications. TFC has the mission to provide biomass based innovations for the succes of our customers. Our business development aims at the joint development of products and opportunities to establish long term customer relationships. With a focus on creativity and innovation, we are committed to the sustainable development of new competive products based on natural sources.
