BioMatNet - Biological Materials for Non-Food Products - This site makes available results of RTD projects supported by the European Commission in the area of Biological Materials for Non-Food Products (Renewable Bioproducts). It includes final results from the Fifth Framework Programme (FP5), FAIR Programme (FP4) and previous programmes, as well as ongoing research from the Fifth and Sixth Framework Programmes (FP5 and FP6).
EPOBIO: Realising the economic potential of sustainable resources - bioproducts from non-food crops - EPOBIO brings together world-class scientific and industrial expertise to identify areas for further investment in plant science research in order to realise the economic potential of plant-derived raw materials with long-term benefits to society. It is supported by the European Commission under the Sixth RTD Framework Programme Specific Support Action SSPE-CT-2005-022681 together with the United States Department of Agriculture.
BEM - Biomass for Energy and Materials - A multidisciplinary initiative at Risø to investigate and develop new systems for sustainable production of bioenergy, biopolymers and biocomposites from crops, agricultural residues and organic wastes.
SustainPack - Innovation and Sustainable Development in the Fibre Based Packaging Value Chain - SustainPack is a four year research programme with a budget of €36m. Of this, €19m is being provided by the EU's Sixth Framework Research Programme. The SustainPack project team is comprised of a consortium of 35 partners from 13 countries, representing packaging research associations, academia and industry. The purpose of SustainPack is to establish fibre-based packaging as the dominant player in the packaging area within a decade. It will achieve this by applying nanotechnology solutions to deliver lean and added value fibre-based packaging options for users and consumers.
